The Baltimore Police Department has arrested in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred over a year ago in the Southwest District. Thirty-six-year-old Lamont Johnson of Baltimore was taken into custody on charges of first-degree murder for the slaying of 22-year-old Tiwan Wilson. The arrest was facilitated by an unrelated apprehension that saw Johnson initially detained for gun and drug charges on September 14, according to the Baltimore Police Department.
Wilson's life was brutally cut short on August 4, 2023. He was discovered by officers responding to reports of shots fired in the 300 block of South Calhoun Street. Seated inside a vehicle, the victim was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. Despite being quickly transported to an area hospital, Wilson was pronounced dead shortly upon arrival.
Investigators managed to connect Johnson to the homicide while he was already being held at the Central Booking Intake Facility without bail on unrelated charges. As reported by officials, Johnson is now officially charged with first-degree murder in the case of Tiwan Wilson's death.
Before the latest developments, the Southwest District Homicide Investigation had called on the community to provide any information regarding the case. Tips could be submitted anonymously through the Metro Crime Stopper tip line or online, yet it remains unclear what specific information led to Johnson's arrest.
