The Baltimore Ravens have taken a heartfelt step to pay tribute to two significant figures in their franchise history. This season, players will don helmet decals in memory of former wide receiver Jacoby Jones and respected offensive line coach Joe D'Alessandris.
Details regarding the tribute were released, with the helmet decals to showcase both names and notably feature Jones' number 12. Last month, the football community was shaken by the news of D'Alessandris' passing at age 70, following complications related to surgery. According to WMAR2-News, the coach had been hospitalized with an acute illness just 11 days before his passing. D'Alessandris notably contributed over four decades of his life to coaching, joining the Ravens staff in 2017.
Jones, remembered vividly for his clutch performances, including the 'Mile High Miracle,' passed away on July 14 due to hypertensive cardiovascular disease at the age of 40. His heroics were pivotal to the Ravens' Super Bowl XLVII triumph, leaving an indelible mark on franchise history. As reported by FOX Baltimore, the decals will be worn on team helmets throughout the 2024 season, ensuring that their memories will be carried on the field.
