Last night, Dorchester's police were called to Geneva Avenue after reports of an armed individual were received, leading to the arrest of 30-year-old Boston resident Jakeem Hanson on several firearm and drug charges.

According to the Boston Police Department's official report, officers from District C-11 arrived at the scene around 9:31 PM and identified Hanson, who matched the description given by Boston Police Operations, walking in the direction of Park Street as the suspect; Hanson fled upon seeing the officers, initiating a foot chase during which officers noted he was carrying and then discarded a firearm.

Following the chase, Hanson was apprehended near Bournside Street and Paisley Park; a search conducted by the officers resulted in the recovery of seventeen small bags of crack cocaine and a Taurus PT 22 handgun, which was found to contain one round in the chamber and seven rounds in the magazine. Hanson now faces charges for the unlawful possession of a firearm, a loaded firearm, ammunition, as well as for resisting arrest and possessing with intent to distribute Class B drugs.

The police report also highlighted that, at the time of his arrest, Hanson had four active arrest warrants as they found out when they took him into custody; further steps in the legal process will see him arraigned in Dorchester District Court thereafter the arrest.
