Collin County has added some notable military flair to its Planning Board with the recent appointment of Brigadier General John "Mike" Wallace. With a blend of over two and a half decades in business development and investment banking, coupled with a distinguished 33-year military career, Wallace is set to bring a unique perspective to the county's growth and infrastructure challenges. This appointment reflects the county's initiative to strategically manage land use and foster sustainable economic development in one of Texas' rapidly expanding regions.
Wallace's extensive resume includes serving as the National Sales Director and Owner of 401 Plans, recognized nationally for its comprehensive retirement services. The company is known for designing particularly tailored retirement solutions for a host of clients, promoting financial stability and long-term planning. According to Collin County's official announcement, Wallace expressed his honor to contribute his experience to "issues that directly impact our community."
Combining his business expertise with a military backbone, Wallace's role in the Texas Army National Guard has been marked by leadership across several pivotal positions, including Assistant Division Commander of the 36th Infantry Division and leading troops in deployments across Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan. "I have been privileged to know General Mike Wallace for over ten years. He will give strong advice and bring the character of service that we seek on the planning board," remarked Collin County Commissioner for Precinct 3, Darrell Hale, underscoring the General's commitment to community service, per Collin County.
With a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point and a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College, Wallace's prowess in strategic planning is also well documented. His academic background, coupled with high-tier military education such as the U.S. Army Ranger School and the Joint and Combined Warfighting School, positions him to effectively deal with the growth-related challenges facing Collin County. Awards like the Legion of Merit and the Bronze Star Medal add to his decorated career, which also has been firmly rooted in Allen, TX, where he lives with his family.
