Clearwater Police Issue Renewed Appeal for Leads on 24-Year-Old Missing Child Case with Age-Progressed PhotoSource: Facebook/Clearwater Police Department

The Clearwater Police Department recently issued a new appeal for assistance in a decades-old case of a missing child, Zachary Bernhardt, who vanished from his Clearwater apartment 24 years ago. According to WFLA, an age progression photo showing what Bernhardt might look like now has been released to the public. On September 11, 2000, the then 8-year-old boy went missing from his home at 2690 Drew Street.

In an attempt to hopefully spark new leads, police have distributed the image with the notion that "Someone out there knows something or has information that could help solve this case," as the department stated. Further information and a call to action were shared in a post from the Clearwater Police Department's official Facebook page.

On the day of his disappearance, Bernhardt’s mother discovered that her son was no longer in his bedroom when she returned from an early morning walk. Since that day, authorities have been relentless in their pursuit of closure for this case, as detailed by Bay News 9.

Community members and anyone with information regarding the missing case of Zachary Bernhardt are urged to come forward. The Clearwater Police have asked anyone who might recognize the individual in the age-progressed photograph, or has any details that can aid in the case investigation, to urgently reach out to detectives by calling (727) 562-4242. Assistance can also be rendered by contacting the National Center for Missing or Exploited Children for any insights into lost or exploited children.
