A Clinton Township teenager has been charged with the fatal shooting of a Detroit mother, Tasneen Sherrod, 42, and wounding her son during a recent altercation. CBS News Detroit reports that 15-year-old Anthony Deshawn Sneed is facing charges including felony murder after allegedly stealing a handgun and opening fire during an argument.
Following a physical dispute on September 4, Sneed purportedly took the firearm from Sherrod's son. In the midst of fleeing the scene before his surrender to Detroit police, Sneed is accused of shooting multiple times at Sherrod and her son. Officers responding to the emergency found both victims outside a residence in the 18000 block of Runyon Street, as disclosed by the The Detroit News.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Sneed with felony murder-juvenile defendant, second-degree murder, assault with intent to murder, armed robbery, and four counts of felony firearm. His arraignment is scheduled for today at the 36th District Court. On the evening of the incident, police were called at around 8:10 p.m., after which the critically injured mother and her son were transported to a hospital, where Sherrod was pronounced dead, as indicated in a press release from the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.
After his surrender to the Sixth Precinct, Sneed is currently expected to be tried as an adult, adding to the gravity of the charges against him.
