In a recent display of recognition and awareness, the Cobb County Board of Commissioners declared August as Child Support Awareness Month, a report by Cobb County government website explains. The proclamation is part of a national effort initiated in 1995 to highlight the importance of financial and emotional support for children of separated or divorced parents. The campaign also underscores the availability of services designed to assist families in managing child support arrangements.

The Board did not stop with the efforts to improve children's lives; it recognized the Information Technology Services (ITS) for their advancements, making Cobb County fifth in the nation among counties with populations between 500,000 and 999,999 in terms of digital services. The county's achievements in digital innovation included an array of public service upgrades, such as a new social media tool to increase the community's engagement, an updated 911 recruiting site, and the implementation of a uniform online payment processor, along with the replacement of an outdated 30-year-old data center to bolster security and data management.

Beyond digital accomplishments and community aid, Cobb County celebrated its local flavors by proclaiming August 8 as Whataburger Day, recognizing the community's affection for the restaurant chain, which has three locations in the county. In a demonstration of the county's business-friendly ethos, the Cobb County government noted that one of these locations was the 1,000th Whataburger restaurant, highlighting its local popularity since its Kennesaw debut, which caused lines of cars to wrap around the block in 2022.

Further cementing the county’s commitment to fostering excellence within its youth, the Board of Commissioners also commended Isaiah Hubert as one of 750 scholars nationwide to receive the Gates Scholarship. "The Cobb County Board of Commissioners congratulates you on becoming one of just 750 scholars selected from more than 53,000 nationwide applicants for the Gates Scholarship," as stated in the county's official website. This accolade, established by Bill and Melinda Gates, celebrates minority students who have demonstrated exemplary leadership and academic prowess, allowing them to pursue their educational goals without financial burden.
