The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) is seeking the public's help in finding 18-year-old Caterra Poma and her 11-month-old daughter, Zelaya Rose Poma-Davis. This request comes after an alleged violation of a protection order and ongoing concerns for the child's welfare, as detailed by the City of Colorado Springs.
On a day earlier in the month, CSPD officers were dispatched to a potentially breached court order after Caterra met with the child’s father at a local Texas Roadhouse in a prearranged visit meant to be a farewell before she departed the state, despite the existence of a protection order stemming from previous domestic violence incidents, the father momentarily left to retrieve a diaper bag, at which point Caterra seized the opportunity, took her daughter, and has since evaded contact with law enforcement.
After the incident, an arrest warrant was issued for Caterra Poma concerning the protection order violation, and the police have been actively searching for her and her infant daughter, noting that Caterra has ties to both the Denver metro area and Colorado Springs and may also be traveling to Atlanta, Georgia, according to the City of Colorado Springs.
During a court hearing held today by the El Paso County Court, which was most likely bustling with the sobering gravity of such family entanglements, custody of Zelaya was officially granted to the child’s father, a development that adds a formal judicial layer to the ongoing search for Caterra and her daughter, the Denver metro area to Colorado Springs, frequently, and her recent trips to Atlanta also led to speculation that she may return there.
