After a temporary hiatus due to the presence of bald eagle nesting, construction on the new picnic shelter at Klineline Pond is set to pick back up. The original Pondview shelter, having sustained extensive damage from a winter storm, was deemed beyond repair and ultimately demolished to make way for the new structure.
The resumed efforts are of the county's larger project to restore and enhance the park's amenities. Beginning the week of October 7, visitors to the park should prepare to potentially rapidly adjust their usual routines, as contractors will be on site pumping concrete. Clark County Public Works assures that while some inconveniences may occur, disturbances will be kept to a minimum.
Completion of this eagerly awaited shelter is anticipated by November, weather permitting. Community members with an eye on the progress or those seeking more details can get in touch with program coordinator Jacob Huston at [email protected] or by dialing 360.719.0756.
If you are near the park during the construction phase, heed the advice to safely stay clear of work zones. Public Works has promised to share updates about the construction timeline and its impacts across its social media channels, which include X, Facebook, and Instagram. For the less digitally inclined or those simply wanting to catch these updates elsewhere, information can also be found on Nextdoor or directly on the Clark County Public Works website.
