As Dallas braces for high temperatures, the National Weather Service in Fort Worth issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook early this morning, cautioning residents about the persisting heat. According to the outlook, "Hot temperatures are expected across the region today," with widespread heat indices in the "100-105 range expected this afternoon." This follows a forecast that predicts sunny and hot conditions with highs hovering around the 100-degree mark.
North and Central Texas are going to continue experiencing unseasonably warm temperatures through the weekend, with heat index values expected to easily surpass 100. The forecast from the National Weather Service indicates a continuous sunny trend, with Saturday seeing highs near 98. Even as we proceed into the new week, Monday's temperatures are forecasted to still hit a high near 85, before a weak cold front moves in, potentially to somewhat cool down the area.
Looking ahead to the start of the week, a shift in weather is on the horizon with Sunday night marking the return of a slight chance for showers and thunderstorms. This change kicks off a week characterized by intermittent chances of precipitation, with thunderstorms likely to occur from Sunday evening through Wednesday, as per the National Weather Service. However, "No severe weather is expected" during this period, offering some comfort despite the inconsistency in weather patterns.
Residents should remain vigilant during the evenings as there will be a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 am on several nights next week. With the arrival of the expected weak cold front, temperatures are forecast to mildly decrease, with highs around 86 on Wednesday, trailing off into the cooler nighttime lows in the upper 60s. The National Weather Service advises that the "spotter activation is not expected at this time," indicating limited risk despite the fluctuating weather conditions.
