
In the early hours of Sunday, a routine traffic stop in West Bexar County escalated into a car chase, ending in a crash and the subsequent flight of two suspects. The Bexar County Sheriff's Office informed that the incident began around 3 a.m. when a deputy attempted to stop a Nissan Sentra on the 10900 block of Culebra Road. As reported by KSAT, the suspects' vehicle quickly fled the scene, prompting the deputy to give chase.
The pursuit continued onto Northwest Loop 1604 traveling northbound, during which the deputy suffered minor injuries due to a crash. The chase came to an unexpected end when the suspect's vehicle collided with a Ford Mustang at the intersection of North Loop 1604 and Blanco Road. Authorities confirmed that no one in the Mustang sustained injuries. The two suspects, identified as a male and a female by the sheriff’s office, managed to flee on foot and currently remain at large.
Additionally, the sheriff’s deputies recovered a handgun, cell phones, and identification cards in the abandoned Nissan, although they have not been able to confirm the identities of the suspects as of yet. The details surrounding the deputy's injuries have not been made public, save for the confirmation that they were minor.
The identity of the injured deputy has been withheld, as is common in such situations involving law enforcement personnel.
