A construction zone on northbound US-127 near River Road in Isabella County turned tragic Friday morning when a 66-year-old Detroit man driving a 2025 Ford Bronco struck and killed a 47-year-old worker from Mt. Pleasant. According to the Audacy News article, the incident occurred just after 9:30 a.m., and the Isabella County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating how the vehicle was to have ended up inside the closed construction area.

WNEM reports that deputies were dispatched to the scene at 9:38 a.m., where they found the deceased construction worker. The Sheriff's Office said that the Bronco had entered the construction site through an area not designated for traffic, and the driver was not injured in the accident.

The exact circumstances that led up to the fatal collision are under extensive review. "The investigation is ongoing to determine why and how the Detroit man left the driving lane of the highway and entered the barricaded area of the construction zone," the Isabella County Sheriff’s Office mentioned to ABC12. Alcohol has not been mentioned as a factor at this time, although the driver's motives and actions prior to the crash are still under investigation.

The Isabella County Sheriff’s Office has not provided any additional information on the ongoing investigation.
