Following a shot spotter activation in the area of 53 Mather Street, an 18-year-old Dorchester resident was arrested with firearm charges last night. Octavio Nares-Green is now facing multiple counts, including the unlawful possession of a firearm, according to a Boston Police Department report.
As near as 10:18 PM, when the suspects were seen by officers running away from the scene at Washington Street after the activation of the gunshot detection technology, a detailed description of the two male suspects was immediately broadcast. Running toward Melville Avenue, officers lost sight of the duo after they jumped a fence, while one of them clutched the front of their waistbands in a sprint.
A Smith & Wesson 9mm with one round in the chamber and five rounds in its sixteen-capacity magazine was later recovered by the police near the fence. This location was presumably along the suspects' escape path. The swift search by the officers eventually led them to 14 West Tremlett where they apprehended Nares-Green. His accomplice managed to elude the police.
Nares-Green, as per the Boston Police, was charged with trespassing in addition to his firearm-related offenses. As the officers searched the area where a loaded firearm was tucked away beneath a fence in Dorchester, the suspect was set to be arraigned at Dorchester District Court following his capture by local authorities.
