The Douglas County Office of Communications recently nabbed a prestigious national award for its engaging 'Mission Possible' video, a clever riff on the iconic Mission Impossible films. The recognition came courtesy of the City-County Communications & Marketing Association's (3CMA) Savvy Awards, which celebrates the crème de la crème of government communications and marketing. The Office's imaginative approach to presenting the 2024 State of the County address certainly impressed at the association's annual gala in Austin, Texas.
"Mission Possible" not only spotlighted the local government's endeavors but also did so with a sprinkle of cinematic drama, roping in County Commissioners and various administration representatives for cameo appearances. Dr. Romona Jackson Jones, Chairman of the Douglas County Board of Commissioners, expressed pride in the Communications team's effort to inform, engage, and inspire, according to a statement obtained by Douglas County's official announcements. The goal was to present the county's forward momentum in a light-hearted yet impactful fashion.
The accolade highlights the creative prowess of the Communications Department, spearheaded by Chief Communications Officer, Yvette Jones, and Production Manager, Steven Opauski. Stressing the video's embodiment of Douglas County's vision of resilience and progress, County Administrator Dr. David Corbin said in a Douglas County's statement, "'Mission Possible' encapsulates our vision of resilience and progress. We're proud to share our story in such an engaging and fun way. I can’t wait to see what the team dreams up next year! We look forward to continuing our efforts to serve our community with creativity and excellence." Entries from over 1100 contenders in 38 different categories were up for judging at the Savvy Awards, with 94 first-place awards distributed among the winners.
