
On August 9, officers responded to a report of a stabbing at an apartment on South River S in Edgewater at around 5 p.m. Upon arrival, they found two individuals, a 47-year-old woman named Nancianne S. Houston and a 58-year-old man, both suffering from stab wounds. According to Anne Arundel County Police, despite immediate medical assistance, Nancianne Houston was pronounced dead at the scene by the Fire Department. At the same time, the man was rushed to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with life-threatening injuries. Homicide detectives took over the investigation, which initially suggested that the two individuals knew each other and had been involved in an altercation that led to the stabbings.
As the investigation progressed, detectives worked diligently to gather evidence and piece together the incident's circumstances. On Wednesday, an arrest warrant was issued for 58-year-old James Strachan Houston, charging him with the murder of Nancianne Houston. He faced charges of first and second-degree murder, along with related assault charges. The case remained active, with detectives seeking any additional information from the public to further clarify the events that led to the fatal confrontation.
Today, members of the Anne Arundel County Police Fugitive Apprehension Team located and arrested James Strachan Houston in Edgewater. He was transported to the Jennifer Road Detention Center, where he was processed.
