Eight people were taken into custody by the Orlando Police Department following a Pro-Palestine demonstration that ended in a disturbance on Saturday afternoon. WFTV reported that the demonstration began peacefully at Lake Eola with about 20 participants. Orlando Police monitored the event and confirmed it concluded without incident at 5:15 p.m.
However, a confrontation erupted shortly after near a Publix on East Central Blvd. The Orlando Police's bike units moved to respond quickly. According to WFTV, the disturbance involved demonstrators arguing with another individual who held opposing views. It was during the police's attempt to defuse the situation that one protester is said to have lunged toward both an officer and the opposing citizen.
This action led to a series of arrests, with seven others detained for attempting to interfere with the police intervention. Charges against the eight individuals included disorderly conduct, battery on a law enforcement officer, and resisting arrest with violence, as reported by My News 13.
The situation is still developing, and investigations are expected to reveal more about what happened during the confrontation after the demonstration.
