Last Saturday, a high-speed chase in Fairfield culminated in an abrupt halt due to nature's intervention. Sergent Peña from the Fairfield Police Department observed a driver, later identified as 20-year-old Oswaldo Zaragozanunez, careening through Westbound East Tabor Avenue at approximately 5:10 am. This included running the red light at the intersection with Dover Avenue, according to the official Fairfield Police Department Facebook page.
The pursuit continued as Zaragozanunez ignored traffic signals and stop signs, defying the rules of the road and the ongoing enforcement efforts to bring the situation under control. The enforcement stop finally kicked in at East Pacific Avenue and Santa Barbara Way. Still, Zaragozanunez, refusing to yield, collided with the landscape before trying to escape on foot.
The individual's attempted escape was short-lived, with foliage once again playing a crucial role as he was promptly apprehended in nearby bushes by police. Oswaldo Zaragozanunez faced multiple charges, including driving while intoxicated and probation violation, which led to his transportation to County Jail.
