Father and Grandmother Arrested in Connection with Toddler's Fentanyl-Related Death in Cordell, OklahomaSource: Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation

The grim story of a toddler's death in Cordell, Oklahoma, has taken a turn following the arrest of two individuals connected to the case. As KOCO reports, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has apprehended the biological father, 37-year-old Jerrid Page Johnson, and the maternal grandmother, 63-year-old Kathleen Mary Green, in what has been a months-long investigation into the tragic passing of a 2-year-old boy.

It was on December 29, 2023, when the initial incident set these events in motion. According to KFOR,  Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation was called to assist the Cordell Police Department with a suspicious death after officers responded to a call about a child not breathing. Found on the scene were Johnson and Green, as they awaited the officers at a home on East Main Street and North County Road 2250, where they discovered the child in distress. Despite attempts at resuscitation and emergency medical care, the child later succumbed at a local hospital.

An autopsy report completed on August 14, revealed acute fentanyl toxicity as the probable cause of the child's death. This report was a critical piece in the puzzle, leading authorities to issue a felony murder warrant for Johnson and Green, News 9 cited. On September 11, the warrant was issued, and two days later, both individuals turned themselves in to the Washita County Sheriff's Office. The charge against Jerrid Page Johnson, as bottomlined by online records, is that of second-degree murder. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation officials have not commented further on the specifics of the investigation.
