Florence ISD announced the cancellation of Monday's classes across all its campuses as the city grapples with a significant water line repair issue. In a recent update from the district, it was revealed that both Florence Middle School and Florence High School are currently without water, leading to this decision. Despite efforts by repair crews who have toiled for hours on end, the situation persists, with school officials closely monitoring the developments.

In response to the inconvenience faced by residents, particularly those along FM 970, the city issued a statement citing general upgrade maintenance on its main water line as the source of the problem, saying "unforeseen complications occurred," according to KVUE. As a consequence, the water supply will not be reinstated until Monday afternoon, or evening, as the city's water engineer seeks a resolution. In the interim, emergency water supplies are being coordinated with Williamson County and local services.

Residents in need may collect water at the Florence Fire Department located at 301 S. Patterson Ave, officials have organized a drive-through system for the distribution of bottled water. For affected agricultural customers, bulk water supplies are also available at the fire department. "The city apologizes for the inconvenience this has caused our customers," the city mentioned to address public concern.

Amidst the ongoing construction, which the city described on Sunday morning as "going as planned with slow and steady progress," a boil water notice has been announced to take effect once water services resume, this update was noted by FOX 7 Austin. Florence ISD maintains an optimistic outlook, expecting to resume normal operations by Tuesday, yet they have prepared to communicate further if the circumstances dictate otherwise.
