A former Boston Market location in east Sacramento is now little more than ashes and charred debris after a fire erupted Sunday morning. The fire department was called to the scene along Fair Oaks Boulevard around 10:30 a.m., where they encountered the dilapidated shell of the once-frequented eatery, now ravaged by flames.
Amid cooler temperatures that favored firefighting efforts, brisk winds nevertheless presented a challenge, as reported by CBS News Sacramento. The fire crews, battling against the elements, were successful in shielding the surrounding businesses from the inferno’s grasp.
Officials from Sacramento Metro Fire have deemed the building a total loss and are now probing into the origins of the fire, which remain hidden, obscured by the lingering smoke and the elusiveness of an event not witnessed. “Most fires are somewhat caused by some kind of human behavior,” Battalion Chief Chris Vestal remarked in an interview with FOX40 News.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, with suspicions of arson not yet cast aside. As the property owner's counsel has voiced intentions, obtained by CBS News Sacramento, to forge ahead with rebuilding once the necessary permits are acquired. Previous deliberations had hinted at a transformation of the Boston Market into a Starbucks, a plan that now hangs in the balance as the investigation unfolds.
