A former Conroe ISD instructional aide and standout athlete, KeSean Carter, has been charged with the sexual assault of a child, sparking a response from the district emphasizing their commitment to student safety. The 24-year-old from Willis was arrested after an investigation conducted by the Conroe Police Department at Oak Ridge High School, where he was employed, according to information provided by the Houston Chronicle. The allegations against the former Texas Tech and University of Houston football player have not been publicly detailed.

Following his suspension on September 16 during the investigation, Carter was fired on September 18. Having worked as a substitute teacher from January to May and as a paraprofessional starting August 21, his tenure ended abruptly with the emerging allegations. "Protection of our students is one of our highest priorities," Conroe ISD Board President Skeeter Hubert said in a statement acquired by the Houston Chronicle, adding that "There is zero tolerance and no sympathy for behavior of this kind. CISD PD initiated and led the investigation, and we will support a full prosecution. Our deepest condolences go out to any victims."

In a letter sent home to parents, Oak Ridge High School Principal Shawn Almond expressed disgust regarding the situation, saying, "We are incredibly saddened and disgusted by the actions of our former employee. This individual’s actions are not representative of our thousands of exceptional employees. As expressed in the message below from Oak Ridge High School Principal Shawn Almond, student safety is our top priority. We are committed to providing a safe learning environment for all students," as per a report by KHOU

Montgomery County District Attorney Brett Ligon noted that his office would continue to investigate the allegations, utilizing the enhanced investigative abilities provided by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force. "Our office will provide the enhanced investigative abilities that we have through the ICAC multi-agency approach to a successful prosecution of this case," Ligon said, affirming the community's expectation to use law enforcement resources to protect children, as mentioned in the Houston Chronicle. The former athlete, once noted for his sports prowess, now awaits the outcome of these proceedings while held in Montgomery County Jail with no bond set.
