On August 31, Fremont PD's vigilant eyes caught a stolen vehicle, setting off a chain of events that ended with three arrests and the seizure of an arsenal combined with narcotics. The breadcrumbs began with automated license plate reader cameras, which detected the stolen vehicle on Fremont Blvd. and Washington Blvd., eventually triggering a police chase that concluded on Thornton Ave. and Blacow Rd. when the perpetrators, cornered by the law's tactical maneuvers, decided to surrender.
The three individuals in the vehicle found themselves in deep trouble, with the police discovering quite the haul inside: a .40 caliber handgun with features akin to an assault weapon, threads whispering of silenced intentions, thirty-two grams of cocaine, and evidence of theft ranging from mail to credit cards to passports. The suspects, Amanda Stacy, James Spearman, and Christian Widjaja, are now facing a buffet of charges, their freedom slipping through their fingers like sand in an hourglass.
"Amanda Stacy (36-year-old, resident of Milpitas) was arrested for Penal Code 496D(a) – Possession of a stolen vehicle, Vehicle Code 2800.2(a) - Evading a peace officer with disregard for safety, and Penal Code PC 530.5(a) – Identity theft", as outlined by the Fremont Police Department. Spearman, a 38-year-old Antioch resident, has a rap sheet that reads like a crime novel, etched with convictions for burglary, grand theft, and previous encounters with the might of law for possessing a handgun. He's up against charges, including possession of an unregistered firearm and possession of a controlled substance with a firearm.
