Akeem Frazier, a 33-year-old man from Greenwood, Delaware, was detained by Delaware State Police for a variety of offenses involving firearms and narcotics following a traffic stop in Bridgeville. According to a police report, the arrest occurred on September 3, 2024, initiated due to a registration violation with Frazier's vehicle.
When pulled over, Frazier's hesitation and failure to produce a driver's license raised suspicion, which was further amplified when a trooper spotted the handle of a gun under the driver's seat. The subsequent search led to the discovery of several illicit substances, inclusive of heroin, crack, and powder cocaine, along with a loaded .45 caliber handgun and drug paraphernalia. DESP has not provided specifics on the registration violation that prompted the traffic stop.
Following the arrest, Frazier faced processing at Troop 5 where he was charged with multiple felonies, including possession of a deadly weapon by a person who also possesses a controlled substance, possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, and carrying a concealed deadly weapon. Additionally, Frazier has been charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and various traffic violations.
Justice of the Peace Court 2 arranged Frazier's arraignment, after which he was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution. The bond set for his release amounts to $50,803 in cash. The legal proceedings following these events will inform on Frazier's future and the potential repercussions of the charges he now faces.
