In a recent turn of events, Hayward police made a breakthrough in the homicide case on Santa Clara Street, leading to two arrests. On Wednesday, detectives apprehended Shawn Moayer, a 34-year-old from Hayward, for his alleged role in the killing of Matthew Beck, which occurred last Monday. The victim, also a Hayward resident, was found with fatal gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel, according to the City of Hayward.

Following a diligent investigation, detectives identified Moayer as the suspect responsible for Beck's death. Accompanied by medical personnel, responding officers discovered the gravely wounded victim near the 22000 block of Santa Clara Street before his death was confirmed at the location. The arrest occurred at a residence within the 32000 block of Endeavour Way in Union City.

The investigation further implicated Moayer's adoptive father, 59-year-old Houman Moayer of Union City, who was also arrested on the same day. Detectives developed probable cause to believe he assisted his son by concealing his whereabouts, attempting to thwart law enforcement efforts to take his son into custody. Houman is facing charges for being an accessory after the fact and, like his son, is detained at the Santa Rita County Jail.

According to the City of Hayward, Chief Bryan Matthews commended his team's efforts, "The unwavering commitment of our detectives, coupled with the seamless collaboration across the department, was key to identifying and apprehending Shawn Moayer." Across the department, he credited the collaboration and commitment for Shawn Moayer's apprehension.
