And for those longing for rain, tonight holds a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms between 10 pm and midnight, though chances stand at a scant 20 percent.
Sunday is also expected to have highs reaching the mid-90s, with heat index values hitting similarly stifling levels. While the wind might remain calm, the chances of precipitation will increase slightly after 4 p.m., though still holding at a modest 20 percent likelihood. Meanwhile, by Monday, the forecast predicts a mostly sunny start to the week, with temperatures reaching a high near 94, and a southeast breeze offering only a slight relief. These conditions don’t bode well for those already fatigued by the relentless Texan heat, a forecast supported by a post from NWS Houston on X, confirming the hot weather and low chances of rain or storms that will set the tone for the coming week.

Looking beyond Texas, storm trackers up north have their eyes set as thunderstorms capable of isolated severe gusts and hail may form. According to the Storm Prediction Center, parts of Northern Nebraska and west-central South Dakota are categorized under a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms. Elements are brewing for these weather events, as a shortwave trough is expected to move northeastward across the High Plains. This might provide some comparison, for Houston's forecast, while hot and humid, does not carry such severe weather threats. In fact, the city's relative meteorological monotony stands in stark contrast to the more dynamic systems brewing to the north.
Despite scorching routines, residents are advised to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activities during peak heating times, as continuous exposure to high temperatures and heat indices can lead to heat-related illnesses.
