This development comes months after Marin's daring rescue of Bryan Pederson, a Tomball man caught in his SUV under a fallen tree during the May 16 derecho, as KENS 5 reported.
Marin, who was mere cars behind when disaster struck Pederson, leaped into action without a second's hesitation – her quick thinking and determination undoubtedly saved Pederson's life. "She reached in, undid my seatbelt, which I didn’t even think about, and grabbed me like she had done this a million times," Pederson recollected, in a statement obtained by KENS 5. He later connected with Marin on Facebook to express his gratitude and, upon learning that her own home had been severely damaged by the same storm, set up a GoFundMe that raised more than $60,000 with the help from the Houston community.

Braustin Homes, learning of Marin's heroism and subsequent struggles, stepped forward to donate a new mobile home to her at cost, creating a synergy of goodwill that made the acquisition of the home possible with the funds from the GoFundMe campaign, The Houston Organization reported.
