A teen from Jurupa Valley turned himself in after allegedly opening fire during a dispute at a post-football game gathering in Norco, as KTLA reported. The Riverside County Sheriff's Office confirmed the 17-year-old suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed due to his minor status, surrendered at the Jurupa Valley Sheriff's Station on Wednesday. The youth is now facing multiple counts of attempted murder for his role in the incident that escalated among a crowd of over 200 individuals.
According to the official release from the Riverside County Sheriff's Office, the deputies were called to the scene on Hamner Avenue on the night of September 13th after reports of gunfire erupted. An argument between two groups sparked the confrontation, during which, the juvenile suspect discharged a firearm. In a statement obtained by the Riverside County Sheriff's Office, no injuries have been reported despite the chaos. Investigators issued and served search warrants but, the suspect evaded capture until his recent surrender.
The Sheriff's department, now seeking additional victims or witnesses, is urging public cooperation. They have invited anyone with information to reach out to Investigator Passalacqua at the Jurupa Valley Sheriff's Station.
As the investigation continues, the youth's motives and the nature of the argument remain under scrutiny.
