Kentwood Police Investigate Birthday Party Brawl at Main Event Near Woodland Mall

A confrontation at a Kentwood birthday party hosted at Main Event, adjacent to Woodland Mall, escalated into a scuffle involving approximately 15-20 partygoers this past weekend. Police were dispatched to the family entertainment venue located near 28th Street SE and the East Beltline shortly before 8 p.m. to rein in the altercation. WWMT reported that attendees were both adults and juveniles.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found "several people, adults and juveniles, that were engaging in assault behavior," according to a statement provided by the Kentwood Police Department. In the commotion, one individual sustained a minor injury. Despite initial dispatcher reports suggesting otherwise, WOODTV clarified that there had been no arrests.

Further investigation by law enforcement has revealed that all involved in the melee were connected through the bonds of the birthday celebration, and no strangers had infiltrated their midst. Police also confirmed that the conflict did not involve any weapons. The details of what sparked the brawl remain unclear, though the officers were able to separate those involved.
