
A kidnapping incident in Southeast has concluded with the safe return of the victim. The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) reported that a woman was forcibly taken by a man, following an argument, into a vehicle in the 400 block of Brandywine Street, Southeast on Thursday afternoon, September 26. The suspect, whom authorities identified as having a prior romantic relationship with the victim, and a second individual hastily drove the vehicle away from the scene around 3:58 p.m.
Efforts to locate the woman led to the discovery of the suspect vehicle shortly after midnight in Temple Hills, MD. According to the MPD, Prince George’s County Police apprehended the driver on unrelated charges, determining that they were not the primary individual implicated in the kidnapping.
The authorities reported that the victim was able to return home unharmed at around 1:15 a.m. on Friday, September 27. Although the primary suspect's whereabouts and involvement remain unclear, the incident continues to be actively investigated by the MPD.
The MPD expressed gratitude towards the Prince George’s County Police for their vital assistance and urged anyone with information about the crime to come forward. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and indictment in the ongoing investigation, according to the MPD release.
