Lancaster County has witnessed a major crackdown on drug activity with the arrest of 20-year-old Ja'Darrius Truesdale on charges of fentanyl trafficking and other related offenses. According to WCCB Charlotte, the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office released details of the investigation initiated by the Lancaster County Multijurisdictional Narcotics Task Force. This operation was triggered by tips suggesting that Truesdale was selling fentanyl from his home on Legend Road.

Undercover operations resulted in two separate purchases of fentanyl from the residence, leading to the execution of a search warrant. Details, as outlined in a statement by QC News, note the discovery and seizure of substantial quantities of narcotics including 6.79 grams of fentanyl, three bottles of methadone, and 3.6 grams of marijuana, along with digital scales and three handguns, one of which was a .45 caliber pistol modified with an automatic 'switch' device.

The presence of firearms, particularly the modified .45 caliber pistol, was additionally troubling to authorities. The Lancaster Sheriff Barry Faile emphasized the gravity of the situation, "Fentanyl has been with us for a while and continues to plague our community," he told Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, SC. "We're working hard to ferret out those who are dealing in it, and this was a very successful investigation which resulted in the seizure of a substantial quantity of fentanyl and other drugs and a significant arrest. ’m also pleased that we located the pistol switch and got it off the street. These devices serve no purpose and convert a handgun into something it was never intended to be"

Following the search, Truesdale was apprehended and charged with trafficking fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute both methadone and marijuana, possession of a machine gun, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. He was denied bond and remains incarcerated. Sheriff Faile expressed his satisfaction with the operation's outcome, particularly the confiscation of the gun with the pistol switch. "These devices serve no purpose and convert a handgun into something it was never intended to be," said Sheriff Faile, a statement obtained by Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, SC.
