Yesterday, tension spiked in the 77th Street Division when Los Angeles Police officers were involved in a shooting at 5800 Estrella Ave, though no one was injured in the incident and a suspect was arrested without further issues, according to a brief LAPD Public Information Office's post on X.

It was around 11:56 am when the officers responded to reports of an "ADW suspect there now" on Estrella Ave, as officers got to the scene they found a suspect reported to be armed with a knife and handgun, and a chase ensued that led to 5900 block of Bonsallo Ave which is where the officer-involved shooting took place, and in a surprising twist the suspect was not hit by the gunfire and was ultimately detained without incident. The LAPD indicated that there were no injuries to officers or the community, and the investigations remain active, with interviews and evidence reviews, including bodycam footage, still being processed.
The LAPD managed the situation by setting up a media staging area at 59th Place & Bonsallo Ave for reporters, advising them to approach westbound from Figueroa, as per the official communications in response to the anticipated disruption of the area for several hours while the Force Investigation Division conducts its review, this review will include attempting to recover what is believed to be a handgun from a rooftop nearby where the engagement took place.
