Las Vegas commuters are expected to face more travel disruptions as the Nevada Department of Transportation implements additional closures for the I-15 South Widening Project. According to the Nevada Department of Transportation announcement, the upcoming schedule includes reduced lane availability and ramp closures necessary for ongoing construction activities such as roadway excavation, paving preparations, and sound wall construction.
The closures will affect the southbound I-15 traffic, which will be tightly reduced to one lane between Silverado Ranch Boulevard and Starr Avenue, starting 8:00 p.m. Sunday, September 29, until 5:00 a.m. Monday, September 30. To also accommodate construction, the St. Rose Parkway on-ramp to southbound I-15 will be closed daily from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. through October 11, although the ramp is set to remain open on Sundays, as mentioned by the Nevada Department of Transportation.
Nevada Department of Transportation has advised that delays should be expected and motorists may want to consider taking alternate routes. The disruptions will continue nightly, with northbound I-15 getting narrowed down to one lane between Sloan Road and St. Rose Parkway from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., through to October 4.
As part of an $86 million effort, this project aims to widen nearly nine miles of I-15 between Sloan Rd and Warm Springs Rd. For detailed project information, updates, and to plan detours around closures, motorists should visit the project's webpage or follow @NevadaDOTVegas on Twitter for updates in southern Nevada, and @nevadadot on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram for statewide news. Those seeking further assistance can reach Nevada Department of Transportation at (775) 888-7000 or visit nvroads.com, or by dialing 511 prior to their travels. The construction schedule is tentative and may change due to weather conditions or other unforeseen factors, so drivers are encouraged to check for the latest road conditions and construction updates before setting out on their journey.
