A Lithonia man has been sentenced to life imprisonment following a harrowing home invasion and sexual assault of his ex-girlfriend. The DeKalb County District Attorney's Office announced that 38-year-old Rassoloman Davis was convicted on several charges, including Rape, Home Invasion in the First Degree, Aggravated Assault Family Violence, Kidnapping with Bodily Injury, and False Imprisonment. The verdict came on Thursday, August 29, after a jury trial.

During the early hours of July 3, 2016, the victim experienced an unimaginable ordeal when she was awakened by a masked assailant who threatened her with a knife. According to the DeKalb County District Attorney's Office, Davis forcibly dragged the woman downstairs after she recognized him, despite his initial attempt to obscure his identity. He then proceeded to cruelly zip tie her limbs and gag her before committing the heinous act of rape.

This traumatic episode concluded when Davis cut the victim loose, left her with $80 cash, and extracted a promise that she would refrain from contacting law enforcement. This promise, surely made under extreme duress, was soon broken as the victim courageously reached out to emergency services following his departure. Davis' sentencing was decided today by Superior Court Judge Brian Lake, following the jury's finding of guilt.

Senior Assistant District Attorney Garrett Emmons took the lead in prosecuting this case, alongside Senior Assistant District Attorney Ramika Gourdine. Their efforts were supported by District Attorney Investigator Jennifer Alaedu and Victim Advocate Ashley King. The initial investigation had been spearheaded by then Sgt. Erwin of the DeKalb County Police Department, who has since retired. In light of the brutal and invasive nature of his crimes, Davis will now face life to behind bars.
