Firefighters faced a challenging blaze in the West Adams district early this morning, as flames engulfed a one-story strip mall at 2601 S La Brea Avenue, reports LAFD ALERT. The fire was reported at 02:09 A.M. and rapidly escalated to a greater alarm situation, demanding an offensive firefighting operation that involved multiple agencies.
A total of 50 firefighters responded to the scene, deploying their skill and courage to combat a fire that had taken hold of three business establishments under the shared roof. The fire began to eat through a check cashing joint, a sandwich shop, and a wireless service store. These were not just property and products consumed but livelihoods and day-to-day conveniences for the local community as the LAFD units swiftly moved to encircle and drown the blaze, preventing it from consuming more than it already had.
According to LAFD's follow-up announcement, the strenuous efforts of the firefighters bore fruit when the flames were successfully knocked down at approximately 03:01 A.M. It took them 52 minutes to quell the stubborn flames, owing to a well-coordinated offensive firefight that saw every effort made to minimize the damage to the structure and the neighborhood at large. No injuries were reported in the incident.
