A 58-year-old man, identified as Dennis Trost, has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run accident that occurred earlier this week on International Drive in Orlando, resulting in severe injuries to two teenagers. The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that the incident happened just before 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Trost, who was operating a 2016 Jeep Compass, is accused of hitting the two teens, who were on mini-motorcycles, and subsequently fleeing the scene of the crash, as reported by WFTV.

According to FOX 35 Orlando, the collision occurred as the Jeep was headed northbound towards the intersection with Parc Corniche Drive while the teenagers were crossing the intersection. Officials reported that the Jeep made contact with the teenagers head-on. Trost claimed he had a green light when he moved to make a left turn onto Parc Corniche Drive but did not stop after the incident.

The mini-motorcycles, according to the Florida Highway Patrol, were found to be without their headlights during the accident. Following the collision, both teenagers were rushed to local hospitals for treatment. A 14-year-old was transported to Arnold Palmer Hospital with serious injuries, while the 15-year-old is currently in critical condition at ORMC.

Evidence gathered at the scene, including a damaged Jeep Compass that was located with damage consistent with the crash, helped the Florida Highway Patrol issue a warrant for Trost's arrest promptly. Trost was booked into the Orange County Jail on Wednesday, where he remains on a $10,000 bond, as the initial report details. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and further information may emerge as it progresses.
