Washington D.C. is grappling with the aftermath of a violent weekend that left a man dead in the Northeast. The Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that a fatal shooting occurred on the 400 block of 50th Street, Northeast, early yesterday morning.
Responding to calls at about 8:25 a.m., officers found the victim, an unidentified adult male, lying unconscious with a gunshot wound in an alley. Not long after the DC Fire and EMS team arrived, they revealed, having found no signs of life, the man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
The investigation into the homicide is ongoing, with detectives seeking leads and urging the public for assistance. The identity of the man shot remains a mystery as officials work to uncover not only his name but the circumstances that led to his premature demise.
To encourage community assistance, MPD has offered up to a $25,000 reward for information that culminates in the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
