A man who claimed to be trapped for nearly two days in a marsh on Sagamore Beach in Bourne, Massachusetts, was rescued yesterday and taken to a local hospital for evaluation. According to a Boston 25 News report, the man was discovered after a neighbor heard moaning and pleas for help emerging from the salt-marsh and thick brush behind her home on Vineyard Circle.

Firefighters managed to quickly extricate the man, found stuck in the mud about 12 feet from the property line. In a video captured during the rescue, he can be seen loaded onto a stretcher and into an ambulance, visibly muddy and complaining of foot pain. "He was moaning saying, 'Help me. help me,' so she called the rescuers," neighbor Roseanna Nikolaidis told Boston 25 News, providing an account of the situation. "It took about 20 minutes, he was more in the bushes. They had to wedge him out."

While the man's identity and the circumstances leading to his entrapment remain unclear, he told first responders that he had been in his predicament for about two days. Firefighters who responded to the 911 call made by a neighbor found him by clearing a path through the vegetation.

"He said 'Thank you, thank you' to the owner of the house," Nikolaidis relayed, indicating the man's gratitude following his rescue, as reported by WCVB. However, the Bourne Fire Department did not have information to readily provide on how the man got stuck, but confirmed he was transported to Tobey Hospital for further assessment. The man's condition beyond the immediate aftermath of his ordeal has not yet been disclosed to the public.
