Marking September 1, a nod to the area code, the festivities were nothing short of a love letter to the city's vibrancy—complete with music, dance, and expression of local pride that could be felt through the soles of your feet.

As reported by Action News 5, the clear and sunny morning paved the way for a gathering that hosted thousands, including Ladia Yates, the organizer of the event. "We are so excited to be here right now, its such great vibes, the weather is perfect. Thousands of people are here. It is better than I expected," she told the station, reflecting the palpable excitement in the air.

Rainfall failed to dampen the spirits of Memphians on Beale Street, as food, music, and cultural celebrations continued unabated. A particularly notable appearance was that of Memphis rapper GloRilla, who not only performed her hit song "T.G.I.F." but also received a "key to the city." The moment was captured by FOX13 Memphis, as the rapper expressed her love to the crowd saying, "I love y'all!"

Naturally, the event wasn't just about high-profile performances. The community came together to celebrate their city's unique essence. "I love being around people, it’s a fun atmosphere today. Memphis, celebrating 901, our area code," a local resident shared with Action News 5.

Over on WREG, another resident Denise took pride in her heritage, stating, "Nawf Memphis with the 'W' with it. You got to add the 'WF' in that junt." Unity was a prevailing theme, emphasized by the City of Memphis Chief of Communications Penelope Huston to WREG, where she noted the day's significance as an opportunity for cohesion. "We all want to celebrate our city every day. But this just gives (us) a reason to come together and do it together." Additional security was present to ensure that the celebration of Memphis' food, music, and culture remained a focus.
