A Memphis man has been arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder after allegedly stabbing his nine-month-pregnant girlfriend. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of August 30, resulted in the victim requiring major life-saving surgery due to the severity of her injuries, as reported by Action News 5.

The suspect, 27-year-old Jeremiah Dean, engaged in a heated argument with the woman before he proceeded to stab her in right side of her abdomen and her left hand. A witness, Joyce Anderson, recounted to FOX13 Memphis how the pregnant woman stumbled through the neighborhood seeking help, "She was bleeding all the way down, and she was holding her stomach." Anderson then ran to a nearby club to have someone call 911.

Memphis Police Department (MPD) responded to the incident near West Lexington Circle in North Memphis. The affidavit detailed that in the midst of an argument, Dean deflated an air mattress with a knife and subsequently turned the weapon on his girlfriend. Police emphasize that the suspect's actions posed an immediate threat to both the victim and her unborn baby's life.

Jermiah was captured and taken into custody following the tragic event, and is held on a $100,000 bond. The woman was found suffering from stab wounds on the left side of her stomach and left hand, and she was transported to an area hospital where she underwent immediate “life-saving” surgery. WREG reports a history of domestic violence between Dean and the woman, raising grave concerns about the chronic nature of such violence.
