The Metropolitan Police Department is in the midst of an investigation following a deadly shooting that shook the Northeast quadrant of the city earlier this week. In the early hours of Monday, September 2, 2024, the sound of gunfire prompted officers to rush to the 2800 block of 7th Street, Northeast, where, upon their arrival they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds, despite the first responders' efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim has been identified as 46-year-old Townsend Reginald Sowell, a resident of Northeast, this somber news was shared in a statement from the Metropolitan Police Department.
