
The Metropolitan Police Department is reaching out to the public for help in catching suspects tied to a series of burglaries that took place early Tuesday morning, September 3. According to information released by the MPD on their website, the suspects involved forcibly broke into multiple establishments across the capital, grabbing whatever valuables they could before making their hasty escape.
Details of the incidents indicate that the first burglary was reported at around 1:32 a.m. on the 500 block of 11th Street, Southeast, followed by another break-in on the 1800 block of 1st Street, Northwest at approximately 3:28 a.m. While the police have not released further specifics on what was taken or the extent of the damage, they are actively seeking any information that could lead to identifying those responsible for these acts.
A financial incentive is also on the table; MPD is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for tips that bring about an arrest and indictment in this case. Anyone with relevant information is advised to exercise caution and contact the police at (202) 727-9099. Alternatively, tips can be texted confidentially to the Department's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. The authorities stress that those aware of the incidents should take no action themselves but should instead reach out to the proper channels.
