
Authorities are seeking assistance in locating suspects involved in a recent armed carjacking and robbery in Southeast Washington, D.C. The Metropolitan Police Department has released a statement asking for the public's help following the incident that unfolded on the 4100 block of Wheeler Road, Southeast.
The ordeal began on July 29, around 10:13 p.m., when an individual was confronted by assailants while walking to their car, one suspect brandished a handgun, and the victim's property, including the car keys, were stolen, according to the report from MPD. The victim's vehicle was then taken. In a connected event, a second victim reported being assaulted with a handgun and robbed of their cellphone by two suspects, in the same vicinity. That individual was later transported to a hospital for treatment.
The MPD has announced a reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction of those responsible for these violent crimes, as detailed in their plea for community support. The MPD has urged anyone with information to call (202) 727-9099 or text tips to 50411.
