Michigan authorities are on the hunt for the people responsible for defacing a "Welcome to Pure Michigan" highway sign with a barrage of bullets. According to a WWMT, the sign located on the northbound US-31 bypass at the state line in Berrien County's Bertrand Township was found having been struck 18 times by rifle rounds. Currently, Michigan State Police (MSP) have not identified any suspects in connection with the incident.
The discovery of the damaged sign prompted MSP to issue a statement on social media, expressing a firm stance against the act of vandalism. "To the lawless individual(s) responsible for this reckless use of a firearm, once your identity is known you will be charged & prosecuted to the highest extent of the law," the agency stated, indicating an intent to rigorously pursue the perpetrators. This appeal for public assistance was echoed in multiple outlets, with a similar report made by CBS News report.
