The Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) bus driver, Elex M., has been hailed for his quick thinking after aiding a lost toddler clad only in a diaper, near 76th Street and Sheridan Avenue. As reported by FOX6 News, a man at the bus stop alerted the driver to the young child's predicament, stating, "He just ran up. I don't know where he's supposed to be at."

The child was brought onto the bus for safety while Elex M. contacted MCTS dispatch to notify the Milwaukee police. Within 20 minutes, the toddler was safely reunited with his father. According to an interview with Elex by CBS 58, the driver said, "My first thing was to call the station dispatch. I had them call police and say we got a missing kid."

In a span of a relatively short amount of time, local law enforcement officers and an MCTS route supervisor who came to assist found and returned the child to his family. Elex M., with 14 years of experience as an MCTS driver, told CBS 58, "Just another day at MCTS, that's all it is," emphasizing that for him, helping people is the most rewarding aspect of his work.

This act is not an isolated incident but part of a larger pattern of community vigilance by the MCTS, with this being the 15th child found by their drivers in recent times. According to WISN, MCTS acknowledges the crucial role their drivers play as "the eyes and ears of the community." Anna Schryver, marketing manager with MCTS, commented on the frequency of such events and noted that drivers often do not report them because they are just accustomed to lending a hand whenever needed.
