
A homicide investigation is underway in Southeast after a man was fatally shot early Saturday morning, the Metropolitan Police Department reports. The incident, which also left three others injured, occurred in the 2700 block of Langston Place.
Officers who were on duty in the area heard gunshots around 2:18 a.m. and found a man with gunshot wounds lying in front of a residence. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the official statement by MPD, the victim has been identified as 27-year-old Dee Monte Pernell Chase, a resident of Southeast. In addition to the fatality, a man and two women suffered non-life-threatening gunshot injuries and were transported to local hospitals to receive care.
The police are appealing to the public for information. A reward of up to $25,000 is on the table for tips that lead to "the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible," as stated in the aforementioned press release. Concerned citizens aware of the crime should not take action but should be encouraged to contact the police.
