Authorities in the nation's capital are on the hunt for suspects following a series of crimes against work vehicles. The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has requested the assistance of the local community in tracking down those behind a theft from an auto and another case of destruction of property.
According to the MPD, on September 11, officers were summoned to the 1300 block of 5th Street, Northeast, where a victim reported his work vehicle's lock to have been tampered with. Upon inspection, it became clear that several pieces of equipment were missing – a theft verified by incident number CCN 24140324. The following day, another individual discovered their work vehicle's rear door brutishly damaged on the 300 block of 9th Street, Southeast, though in this instance, the suspect failed to effectively gain entry.
The back-to-back incidents seem to have prompted the MPD to consider a potential connection between the two. The MPD is actively investigating the cases, urging witnesses or those with any knowledge of the events to come forward. Incentives are in place, providing up to $1,000 as a reward for information leading to an arrest and indictment concerning these crimes.
