Authorities have reported the apprehension of Maurice Spears, a 32-year-old man from Northeast, D.C., who was sought on charges related to a sexual abuse incident as well as an assault case. The arrest was made by the DC Housing Authority Police and has led to charges being filed for both incidents, as detailed by the MPD.
Back on April 15, Spears was accused of forcing an acquaintance to partake in a non-consensual sexual act on the 1000 block of North Capitol Street, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. Northwest, the case has since been labeled under the classification of First Degree Sexual Abuse with the connected Criminal Complaint Number 24058444. In a separate occurrence on August 10, the same victim reported that Spears had assaulted her, placing her in a headlock and forcefully taking her to the ground. The assault, described as one with Significant Bodily Injury and bearing the Criminal Complaint Number 24122527, resulted in the victim receiving medical attention at a local hospital.
