In Novato, a man was apprehended on Monday for brandishing what appeared to be a firearm following a road rage incident. The Novato Police Department, responding to a 9-1-1 call at 4:30 PM, located the suspect, identified as 51-year-old resident Leobardo Mora. He was found with an imitation gun, a newly purchased replica with a threaded barrel noticeably missing the orange tip required by California law to distinguish it from an actual firearm.
Officials could quickly respond due to the victim's precise and prompt account, leading them to find Mora still parked downtown. According to the Novato Police Department, the police confirmed that additional investigation substantiated Mora's involvement in the earlier threat. Despite the fortunate discovery that the weapon was not genuine, the situation mandated that officers fully engage their training and judgment to ensure public safety. Consequently, Mora was cited for brandishing a replica firearm and is presently facing review by the Marin County DA's Office.
