In the early hours of September 8, tranquil I-35 was turned into a scene of potential calamity as a wrong-way driver sped north on the inside shoulder of the highway's southbound lanes, prompting swift action by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol; video footage of the harrowing incident was released showcasing the resolute intervention by Lieutenants Aaron Nickell and Eric Foster, as reorted by the KOCO.

According to a report from KFOR, the driver journeyed at least six miles from Indian Hills Rd. to SE 82nd St, near Norman, and it was the sharp eyes and quick reflexes of the OHP troopers, who, upon receiving the distress call, collaborated to avert a potential disaster by strategically positioning their vehicles and ensuring the driver could not escape authorities or endanger lives further.

The close shave, captured on video and shared by  Oklahoma Highway Patrol on their Facebook page, shows how the dangerous U-turn made by the suspect almost resulted in a collision with an oncoming vehicle, highlighting the imminent risk posed to unsuspecting motorists.

"Our LTs were able to get him stopped and under arrest before he was able to hit and kill or seriously injure anyone else on I-35 at the time," said officials from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol in a social media post, acknowledging the gravity of the situation and the officers' successful intervention which led to the apprehension of the driver for impaired driving.
