A house fire in the Herminie area last night resulted in emergency responders airlifting one person to the hospital. The incident occurred in the 200 block of Sewickley Avenue, where firefighters were dispatched at approximately 5:33 p.m., as reported by WPXI.

According to Herminie Fire Chief Joe Marincic, the fire originated in the kitchen, while smoke damage extended to other areas of the residence. The individual rescued was found in a room on the upper level of the house and was transported from the scene after firefighters extracted him from the house. This person was in and out of consciousness, said Marincic in a statement detailed by TribLIVE.

Aside from the victim flown to the hospital, three other individuals were present during the fire but managed to evacuate without assistance. Marincic reported the fire at 5:34 p.m., and it was quickly contained to the kitchen area. Marincic noted that the proximity of the Herminie fire hall, located mere blocks from the incident, enabled a prompt response.

The condition of the person transported is unknown, and their injuries are still under investigation. A state police fire marshal will investigate the cause of the fire, which left the house with water and smoke damage.
